Happy Halloween ComicFest 2015!

Comics! To celebrate Halloween ComicFest 2015, Fully Booked gave away three comics per customer at their Bonifacio High Street branch.

Here’s a photo of the long line before the store opened at 10 am. Yup, that many people showed up — it almost felt like Free Comic Book Day heh! The Halloween ComicFest 2015 event was held by Fully Booked in cooperation with Comic Odyssey.

Here are the free comics that my wife Ellen and I got. Not in the photo is our daughter Sam’s haul. Free comics FTW!

Other Fully Booked branches were giving away one comic book per customer.

It’s great to see that more and more people are appreciating comic books and taking part in these geeky activities. And it was fun to see the people who came in costume — little kids and adults alike.  Fully Booked also had

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Will Ash get you HOOQed?

I’m trying out the streaming service HOOQ because fellow ex-Yahoo Smitty a.k.a. @dreampipe convinced me with “Ash vs. Evil Dead”.

The Asian premiere of “Ash vs. Evil Dead” will live stream exclusively on HOOQ on Oct. 31.

Smitty, whose full name is Michael F. Smith Jr., is the CTO of HOOQ.

You get to enjoy a 30-day free trial when you sign up for HOOQ, so check it out.

As for me, I can’t wait to watch Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash in the new series from Starz.

Hail to the king, baby!

Healthier lifestyle

I’ve lost nine pounds — four weeks after I modified my lifestyle, adopting healthier eating habits and becoming more active.

That’s a good start for this grand adventure.

I’m eating more vegetables and fruits while cutting down drastically on rice and meat, and walking at least 30 minutes every day. I have a sweet tooth, which has always sabotaged my efforts before even when I gave up rice, or the time I stopped eating beef and pork. But now I only allow myself to eat chocolates and other sweets on weekends, and even then only in small portions.

I thought about following the Swedish example of Lördagsgodis (Saturday Candy). In Sweden, many children are only allowed to eat sweets on Saturday, which is why it’s an even more special day to them. But nope, I’m not ready for that yet hehe!

Here’s to a healthier lifestyle for all of us!

Eat less meat

You don’t have to stop consuming meat, but don’t eat it every day, either. Instead, make meat an occasional treat.

Here’s an excerpt from the CNN article:

“By eating less red and processed meats, you promote both your own health and that of the planet.”

Thankfully, I’ve drastically cut down on meat consumption and have been eating more vegetables and fruits since making a lifestyle change.
