Donald Duck in Sweden

My favorite cartoon character is Donald Duck, and another reason I love Sweden is that he’s really popular here. Sorry, Mickey.

In fact, Donald Duck, who’s known here as Kalle Anka, has been part of the Christmas tradition in Sweden since 1959, and receives more write-in votes in elections than some actual politicians. (In 2006, however, Sweden changed its election laws to stop the practice of voting for nonexistent candidates.)

Got these two Kalle Anka back issues for five kronor each from the bargain bin of Comics Heaven. Yes, they’re in Swedish, but that’s just additional incentive for me to learn the language.
