Thousands of Filipino gamers will converge again at the World Trade Center for the biggest online gaming event in the Philippines. And of course the Multimedia team and I will be there to once more to live blog and live-stream the event.

Yup, you can watch the U2 Rose Bowl concert live on YouTube wherever you are!

At 8:30 pm PT (11:30 am today in the Philippines and Singapore), join thousands of fans around the world who will watch U2’s Rose Bowl concert for free via the live video stream on YouTube.

This isn’t the first time YouTube is live streaming an event, but with the expected success of a concert of this magnitude by a band of U2’s stature, I’m hoping that YouTube will leverage on its dominance of the online video space to make live streaming a permanent fixture on the site.

Today, August 5, the Filipino nation will bid farewell one final time to the woman who restored democracy in the Philippines and inspired peaceful People Power revolutions in other countries (some successful, some not).

Thousands of Filipinos are expected to turn out for the funeral of former Philippine President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, with thousands more inside and outside the country watching the live video streams of GMANews.TV and ABS-CBN and interacting with fellow mourners online on social networks, such as on Facebook through this President Cory Aquino Facebook Page and the Global Wake for Cory Aquino in Cyberspace Facebook event.

Death of Cory Aquino: Live video stream and photos of former Philippine President’s cortege

Here’s an excerpt from my latest CNET Asia blog post.

Thousands of Filipinos have lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the cortege and pay their respects as the remains of former Philippine president Corazon “Cory” Aquino were transferred to the Manila Cathedral. As of this writing, the cortege is on its way to the church, where her body will lie in state after being transferred from La Salle Greenhills. The procession is being live streamed by GMANews.TV and ABS-CBN.

Aquino will be buried on Wednesday, Aug. 5, which has been declared a special non-working holiday by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as part of the 10-day period of national mourning.

As Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo prepares to deliver her ninth and final State of the Nation Address this afternoon, thousands of rallyists have converged in the Commonwealth Avenue area near Congress while Filipinos across the country and all over the world monitor events in cyberspace.

The opposition is calling on Arroyo to unequivocally state that she will step down next year at the end of her term, amid fears of Charter Change that would prolong her in power.
